McKesson: Prescription for Success

McKesson, a pharmaceutical distributor and healthcare technology company, needed an onboarding program to introduce new employees to the company, to equip them with an understanding of how to become successful in their roles and become vibrant contributors to the organization. Design Media created a custom-designed program tailored for both online and offline use.

The format involved mentors who served as guides: they explain the company's history, mission, vision, and goals; describe business operations and product families; and most importantly, detail key success factors of the company.

Apple: The Five Whys

When Apple wanted to acquaint managers and supervisors with the steps to understanding and documenting on-the-job injuries, they engaged Design Media to create a scenario-based 2D and 3D animated program. The 5 Whys is a technique employed to determine the root cause of a problem. In this program, Apple managers learn how to use the 5 Whys to investigate on-the-job injuries and the correct way to document the information.

Hewlett Packard: Sales Fitness Center

Hewlett Packard is one of the largest information technology companies in the world and clearly the efficacy of its sales staff is key to its global success. When the company needed a training environment to educate its sales team, they came to Design Media and other select partners to imagine, and then create, the unique HP Sales Fitness Center.

The Center is an online environment where participants learn, train, and compete toward the goal of sales excellence. Available to participants 24/7, regular interval training in short learning modules is vigorous and competitive, and both individual and team progress are tracked and celebrated.

Salesforce.com: Learning Portal

Salesforce.com is a San Francisco-based global enterprise software company, most noted for its Customer Relationship Management (CRM) cloud product. When the Leadership and Employee Development (LED) Group needed an upgrade to their learning curriculum for new and transitioning employees, Design Media developed new courses and redesigned their online Learning Portal.

Design Media provided research, consulting services, visual and information design, instructional design, writing, and programming.

Symantec: Sales Leadership Portal

Symantec is the largest maker of content and security software for both consumers and businesses. When their Sales Development and Leadership Program needed a contemporary learning protocol, they enlisted Design Media. The creation of the program involved converting Instructor-Led Training content to online learning, working with subject matter experts to create a new vibrant e-learning curriculum, and creating a collaborative "best practices" knowledge portal to provide sales support.

Macy's: Merchandise Execution

When retail giant, Macy's, needed a partner to help department store managers meet Macy's high standard of excellence in Merchandise Execution they engaged Design Media. Design Media developed a webinar based training program.

In keeping with the company's creative philosophy – that a storytelling format allows participants to more easily understand and retain the need-to-know information – Design Media produced Merchandising for New Managers, blending a scenario-based approach with real-life examples that increased learning success and met the goal of excellence.

Kaiser Permanente: @HPI

Bay Area Kaiser Permanente is a pioneer in the managed healthcare field. Their internal systems and infrastructure are essential to their industry-leading approach to patient care. When Kaiser needed to educate and train their staff on their new Health Plan Institute intranet site, they partnered with Design Media to develop a rich interactive program to communicate to all levels of the organization. Designed as a virtual tour, the scenarios provide perspectives from staff in marketing, sales, services and administration.

Charles Schwab: You@Schwab

"Talk to Chuck" is what we often see on billboards and TV commercials, so when his company talked to Design Media about their need for an improved, more effective program for new hires, the Design Media team stepped in to create an innovative onboarding solution. Design Media created a one-day classroom program and a two-hour web-based branch module that emphasized the core business, history, customers, vision, and values through videos, small group discussions, team building exercises, and interactive games.

Hewlett Packard: Instant-On

Hewlett-Packard engaged Design Media to create an interactive solution for global sales to help reinforce recently acquired concepts.

The assignment was to design two modules, each five minutes in length, with four different 3-D characters. Using an Expert Insight and Whiteboarding concept, the modules focus on trends impacting the customer enterprise. Recognizing these trends within the customer's narrative was one of the central goals in addition to helping the customer recognize the trends and use that recognition to make the case for Instant-On.

Genentech: Passion for Patients

San Francisco biotechnology corporation, Genentech, with a mission to find innovative medical solutions for people facing the world's most difficult-to-treat conditions, discovered a need to communicate that vision to its employees. Design Media, with an over 10-year partnership with Genentech, was called to create a video for that purpose. Passion for Patients was the result.

Having already created hundreds of hours of interview footage with both top management and staff, Design Media assembled compelling pieces from that archive. These segments were then edited into a single video with music, graphic animation, campus shots, and patient photographs to create a compelling reminder of the importance of the core value of "meeting unmet medical needs."

Delta Dental

It's a fact... going to the dentist's office can be scary. And the cost of dental work can be just as terrifying to the wary patient in need of braces or crowns. Delta Dental decided to cap those fears with an educational approach that employs rich media to offer an entertaining, patient-friendly way to impart information. Delta Dental engaged Design Media to create three short "Dental Health Videos" for distribution to clients and for use on Delta Dental's website. The videos were created in English and in Spanish.

To support an enterprise-wide growth initiative, Levi's engaged Design Media to create a dynamic Global Orientation Program for new and tenured employees. The goal was to orient new employees to the company's vision, values and operating principles, while defining the need for greater innovation in today's competitive marketplace for existing employees.

A Brand New World integrated sound instructional design theory with multimedia and video footage Design Media shot throughout the U.S., Asia and Europe, resulting in a compelling global program.

The Big One: A 3-D Experience of the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire

The ground splits open, buildings crumble, and fire consumes the great city of San Francisco. People watch in stunned silence as the roads undulate under their feet and the city they knew and love becomes unrecognizable...it's The Big One! This 3-D stereoscopic documentary was produced by Design Media to commemorate the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire. The video was the winner of two Telly Awards: a Silver for Children's Programming and a Bronze for Special Effects.
